Australia like New Zealand, produces Manuka Honey as well. The Tasmanian Manuka Honey comes from the Tasmanian tea tree, Leptospermum scoparium.
The Tasmanian Manuka Honey is famous for its antimicrobial, anti-fungal and anti-inflammatory properties. THis is the result of a substance methylglyoxal which naturally occurs in this kind of honey.
The methylglyoxal content of our honey is independently tested. This is a more accurate measure of Manuka's healing properties than the UMF rating often used in relation to New Zealand Manuka Honey.
